New York Times Bestselling Author, Carl Weber & The RAWSISTAZ Literary Group discuss Carl's scandalously spirited new novel THE FIRST LADY
Featuring NYT bestselling author Carl Weber and the members of the RAWSISTAZ Literary Group discussing his scandalously spirited new novel THE FIRST LADY. Weber returns with a tale of a woman who knows she's her husband's First Lady—-but doesn't want to be his last…The Bishop may be a man of God, but he’s still a man who needs a woman. Trouble is, T.K. is just as naïve as any other man when it comes to women—especially slick, bible-toting, man-hungry church women. That’s why Charlene has planned a way to hang around in spirit—to make sure her replacement is a good one.
First in line is Marlene, the mother of T.K.’s illegitimate daughter, Tanisha. Then there’s Monique Johnson, First Lady of Plastic Surgery and Implants. The only thing real about Monique is how much she wants T.K. Next is Savannah Dickens, the church’s attractive new choir soloist, who’s also the daughter of a prominent church elder. And last but not least is Charlene’s good friend, Sister Lisa Mae Johnson, widow of Pastor Lee Jones.
With the help of her friend Alison, Charlene anticipates any scenario that might occur in a series of letters addressed to the lucky ladies. Alison has vowed to keep an eye on T.K.’s social life and deliver them as needed. No one else knows about the letters, but rest assured, they will shake up a whole lot of people. Charlene may soon be gone, but her presence will be felt…

The Reading and Writing SISTAZ (RAWSISTAZ) Literary Group was founded by Tee C. Royal on September 16, 2000 and focuses on reading, writing, and discussing books primarily by, for, and about African-Americans. The group was initially to be a small branch off of the SISTAZ email loop, but because of the overwhelming interest from women outside the organization, a separate entity was needed to accommodate the incoming requests for membership. RAWSISTAZ consists of the main group (RAWSISTAZ Online Book Club), a literary hang-out (RAW4ALL-- which is open to men), eight local chapters (RAWSISTAZ Live) in major cities across the United States, and a team of reviewers (The RAWSISTAZ Reviewers). The groups, on and offline, represent close to 500 readers, writers, aspiring writers, and others interested in literacy and the impact on our communities. The online book club consists of approximately 70 women who are spread across the globe reaching as far as Japan & England. It is also a "home" for a lot of the members who have established bonds with one another which allow them to call each other "Sis" thus solidifying the book club motto of "Combining Literature and Sisterhood." The main motto of RAWSISTAZ Literary Group is "Keeping you In the Know regarding the African-American literary community."
RAWSISTAZ is a valuable resource to those in the industry and those aspiring to be. They promote literacy amongst the African-American community, encourage authors to follow their dreams and inspire the open exchange of literary information. Through free newsletters, their various groups, literary services via their websites, and a review team with a repository of 4000+ reviews, RAWSISTAZ is more than a book club; it is a literary legacy.
RAWSISTAZ was selected as one of Writer’s Digest Top 101 Sites for Writers, and has been mentioned in Essence, Black Issues Book Review, Black Expressions, AMAG Magazine, Upscale, and other literary sites and ezines.
